My eyes have lost their cheerful hue.
My skin grows cold; my smile fades.
My mind races to think of ways
to revive my spirit and broken soul,

but they've already been sold,
... to the kingdom of sorrow,
so I have no joy for you to borrow.
My eyes are dull; void of life.
Cogs in my head begin to grind
and all the sunshine in my sky
turns to black as dead clouds roll by.
I fear the light and cherish the night.
I close the drapes to avert my sight.
My mouth is humorless and has lost its color.
My hopes have been crushed; Look there! Another!
